Ask an Expert - Forum > temporary mounting and protection of yupo water crayon art
so ive been doing some art with yupo and water soluable crayons and in the past ive sleeved and mounted the sleeve itself as a temporary mounting but im not looking for other methods since doing that causes it to pop from the surface too much. so now im looking for a way to lightly stick it to paper for temporary storage in a portfolio sleeve but still also need to protect the art against UV since ive read its vulnerable to it. its a bit concerning since the art is quite sensitive to liquids, smudging, etc. but eventually i will have to permenantly adhere it to a surface but i can worry about that later. if anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated!

To protect the finished work from UV and to seal the crayon to the YUPO we suggest to use a sealant such as Krylon Crystal Clear UV spray or the Lascaux Fixativ. However, it's important to test the spray on a sample painting to ensure it does not damage your work.

you can use any archival double-sided tape as that will remove fairly easily from the non-porous YUPO when you need to. This should also have enough tackiness to the tape to adhere temporarily to YUPO

ah, thank you for your help, grabbed some tape and Krylon Crystal Clear UV spray to test to make sure they work, only concerns is how the water soluable crayon reacts to the spray but will just have to see
