Hello - I have a question about best possible ways to stretch Yupo paper. I have tried doing it and it looks quite good the only problem being it sometimes cracks where the staples are. I used pine stretcher bars. Is there any way to prevent cracking of Yupo? Please help :)
Hi Katya, As YUPO is a synthetic material it will tear/crack easily when pulled at any puncture point (from the staples). To prevent this you'll need to minimize the pull at the staples. Some artists have applied an adhesive tape around the perimeter of the stretcher bars - pulling the YUPO taught. You can finish wrapping the YUPO around the bars and cleaning up the corners using staples. This method allows the adhesive to absorb the pull instead of the staples.
