Hi! I am a lamp maker based in Montreal (Canada). I make lamps in Tyvek mostly (https://cargocollective.com/archimedeetcatalan), but I would like to switch to a more sustainable material. Could anyone recommend a paper with similar qualities : fire resistant, difficult to tear and with a japan paper look? Thank you so much! Robin
We offer many Japanese papers that are ideal for the production of lampshades. Japanese papers are made with strong natural sustainable fibers that are difficult to tear. None of the papers we offer are fire resistant; however, we have many customers who apply their own fire resistant coating to protect the paper from heat.
The papers that we recommend are Mulberry, Unryu White, Gan Hanmade, Gasenchi Echizan, Ogura, Kinwashi and Okawara Student. Each paper has unique surfaces and fibrous textures ideal for back lighting. For a full list of our Japanese papers and their characteristics follow the link below.
