Ask an Expert - Forum > Yupo Paper, Mold in Humid Temperatures

I live in Puerto Rico which is very humid. Will Yupo or the paint I use on the paper mold due to the humid climate?

Since the paper is non-porous there should not be any issues with mold. However, it’s always recommended to seal the finished artwork with a UV varnish such as Krylon’s Crytsal Clear or Lascaux. This will provide extra protection.

In regards to heat, YUPO is a fairly stable paper. It has to be pretty hot to cause any distortion.

Heat Specifications:
Temperatures greater than 176F will result in shrinkage / distortion.

Temperatures greater than 320F will result in melting.

Recommended temperature = -40 - 175F
