I am interested in Yupo synthetic paper. Do you know if this paper is suitable for laser cutting?
I have done lots of laser cutting on conventional cardstock, but I know some types of plastics emit toxic fumes when laser cut, so I want to check beforehand. Thank you!
Laser cutting processes can be easily used to cut polypropylene films although we have seen the following issues when laser cutting on Yupo: • Edge burring • Discoloration of edges • Melting • Distortion
Obviously, the issues are caused by excessive heat generated by the laser but can be prevented if the laser cutting system is capable of controlling temperature and speed.
We always recommend wearing a face mask when laser cutting any material, which will protect you from inhaling any particles.
