I am creating a design for a Thanksgiving card that has a illustration and type. I am creating a polymer plate for it. I want to have a deep impression (Deboss) on the paper without ink. Can you suggest a paper stock please? I need the type to read of course. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Simon, Thanks for the message. We have an incredible selection of papers that will work nicely with your print process. If you need a range of papers with matching envelopes we have Arturo in 300 gsm and 600 gsm, Legion Bamboo in 265 gsm and 530 gsm, Savoy and Lettra in a rage of weights. Somerset is one of our premium cotton papers and will give you an amazing impression with blind embossing. It can be matched with another envelope grade like the Legion textured envs. There is also Saunders, Lana and Arches watercolor sheets that emboss beautifully. Please let me know if i can help with anything else.
this is probably too late but i thought i would give a suggestion. i recommend to all of our customers --- designers across the u.s. ---that you use trans white ink or a tint of color in the trans white ink to give contrast to the "blind" deboss / letterpress without ink. we never recommend a blind impression unless it is line art --- thin lines dig into the paper very easily, but small details get overlooked if you do a blind hit. if you don't put some type of ink on the image, the impression image will be very subtle and hard to read. if it were a pattern or some other type of art i would say it may be ok, but still very subtle. since it is text, and you want to be able to read the text you will want something, even if it is a very subtle watered down ink of some kind, to make the letters legible / provide contrast.
let us know if we can help.
