Ask an Expert - Forum > Anyone who can identify paper?

I'm running out of some paper I bought years ago, and I can't remember what it is.

I know.

So I was wondering if there's anyplace I can send a piece of it where it might be identified, or at least a suitable substitute.

Full sheet size is 35 x 44 inches, I think it's a printmaking paper, not brilliant white, but white, thickness measures at 0.02"

While both sides are smooth, one side is a little more "open" than the other, maybe has less sizing?

And it takes a pounding. I work with oil sticks and graphite, I don't gesso (or otherwise prepare the paper), and use a pallette knife to both apply and scrape off material repeatedly, and it's never had any impact on it.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dennis,

Sorry for the late reply. Didn't see this one.

We'd need to see the paper to have a real good chance at determining what it is. Any chance you can send a piece to us?
