Ask an Expert - Forum > BFK Rives on roll. No watermark. Which is the "right" side for intaglio? Thanks
I have just opened a roll of BFK Rives. As the paper is on a roll, there is no watermark. Can you please tell me which side is the 'right' side for intaglio? Thank you.
Thank you kindly for reaching out to us and using one of our papers.
Based upon the way the paper is produced on the mould machine, it has a distinct Felt (top) side and a Wire side (bottom or back side).
The Felt side is the natural working surface of the paper, although the back can be used with equal merit. You will find the Felt side to have a more discernible tooth/texture.
It would purely come down to a personal preference. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Happy printing!
