I am looking for a paper that is 100% cotton, 81lb text and coated. It's for a book binding project. The book will have illustrations so I think coated will work better. I want the color to be really vibrant. The paper will need to be oversized - 21 x 14 or larger. I'm having a hard time finding something that will work well and I'm open to suggestions.
Hello Dianna Unfortunately to my knowledge there is nothing available in a coated 100% text or book weight. I understand your desire for vibrance of color, the alternative might be to choose a legion100% cotton book grade and have your printer (I am assuming you are wanting to print this book via offset lithography) apply a surface sealer or sizing i.e press varnish to the sheet before printing. I have seen success in doing this with deluxe printmaking grades that we sell that are internally sized but have very little surface sizing. Back in the days when deluxe papers were used for reproductions or lithographs via the offset process this was a common practice. it would be somewhat analogous to putting a coating on the sheet before printing. Of course the prudent approach would be to test several 100% cotton sheets with your printer and see which one works best. Please let me know if I can be of any further help. Also please take some time to visit our website to get an idea of some of the offerings we stock in 100% cotton book grades. Somerset, Revere, Zerkall, Rives to name a few. Hope this helps. Hello Dianna Following up on my reply to your post. You mentioned that you wanted the paper to be 100% cotton. Is this because you think the paper will be more archival or is it for marketing? There are several papers that we have that are coated either gloss or matte that are totally archival that will make your printing job much easier without compromising quality or longevity of the paper. Please let me know your thoughts. Best, Michael Ginsburg
