I would like to use oil stick over an acrylic wash on Lenox Legion paper. Would the wash help protect the paper from the corrosive effects of the oil paint? At least for the foreseeable future...?
Our concern is that given the fact the lenox sheet is minimally surface-sized (not like most canvas that is gesso-sized for oils); the lenox will take a water-based acrylic wash (not a heavy wash), but to put an oil-based product on top would more than likely bleed right through. The water-based acrylic paint is not going to size the sheet and prevent the oil from spreading. Perhaps a small trial and error test piece would be the most practical approach. We're happy to send a sample for you.
Thanks so much for your swift response. I would be very grateful if you could send me a test piece. My address is: Garth Claassen The College of Idaho 2112 Cleveland Blvd Caldwell, Idaho 83605
